DAY 12 高知/土佐 修行的道場 -7- Kochi Prefecture
Before I left Pension Sarai, the boss gave me a kind of rice ball as my lunch today. Thanks for her gift, I could feel heaps of warm in this meal. Mr Nakagawa led me to Route 321 to Sukumo City (宿毛市), instead of Route 343 via Mihara Village (三原村) which walking pilgrims usually chose. I didn't see many walking pilgrims on this way, so I couldn't greet to the Ohenro San like before, what made me so sleepy in morning, I regarded Route 321 as a lonely Henro path.
I started to image the scenery of Mihara, it was described a very comfortable path in Odili's book "Henro", even I was in Route 321. On the other hand, Route 321 was a road faced to coast line with majestic landscape, not a easy way to me. At the beginning, I was pretty amazed for this coastline view, there ere waves and cliffs... but this scenery was like never ended road, I became so tired and was eager to finish this road as soon as possible! Apparently, cycling henro was not always romantic.
Roughly we reached a well-known spot - Tatsukushi Coast (龍串海岸) at 10 o'clock, had a look it on half hour. Tatsukushi Coast made me think of Shiau-ye-liou (小野柳) in Taitung County (Eastern Taiwan), but Tatsukushi is wider.
We had lunch in Kanaesaki Hut (葉崎), here saw two walking pilgrims finally, including many many neko (cat in Japanese, Mr Nakagawa often combined Japanese and English together ) ~ From Kanaesaki Hut to Otsuki Town Roadhouse (大月町) was another long adventure, we took a rest in here again, suddenly Odili (A noted Shikoku Henro San in Taiwan) contacted with me at this moment. She cheered me up by facebook message, I was full of energy again!
Can't be too exciting when we entered Sukumo City (宿毛市), Enko-ji (#39 延光寺) is not at City central. So we needed to ride another 6 KM far via Route 56, I felt exhausted on this up and down hill to Enko-ji (#39). I planed stayed at Free accommodation of Enko-ji (#39), but it didn't offer that moment, so we had to ride Route 56 back to Sukumo City.
I stayed a business hotel (Flex Hotel) near to the elementary school, and Mr Nakagawa went to another one which had bath room. Wow! So tired today, totally we rode 88.65 KM! Every Henro night, I could lay on the bed do nothing just like staying the heaven to me. Well, I seemed not to lay on the bed for very long time....... 16 temples in Kochi Prefecture was done!
