"It really makes sense for me! Henro combines History, Religious and Cultural with travel (pilgrimage) perfectly."
Before Shikoku Henro.
I planned this travel pretty long time, before the first Chinese language Ohenro "遍路" book published in 2014, even earlier than I applied for Working Holiday Visa in Australia in 2012.
This thought started in summer 2011, I just finished my bachelor degree, one day I went to a library then read "Lonely Planet : JAPAN" accidentally. Because I am the one who prefer the unknown spot, I selected the page of Shikoku, of course it mentioned that "Shikoku Henro", afterwards I can not forget this noun any more since that moment.
I was in Australia as a backpacker during 2012 to 2014. I always would like to talk about Shikoku Henro if I knew some friends from Japan.
One year I met a Japanese girl Yuko in Tasmanian Hostel , she was curious about why I wanna do Henro? "It really makes sense for me! Henro combines History, Religious and Cultural with travel (pilgrimage) perfectly."
This sentence becomes my best replying, and I can't think of another better answer.
At the beginning, I planed I do Henro Pilgrimage after I applied for U.K. or Japan Working Holiday~
I shall do Henro after I understood more knowledge about Japan Buddhism , history, traditional architecture even Japanese language.
The main reason I always think if I know more about that, I can see more clear, far, or specific during my journey!
But how much time it gonna spend if I understand all of that? And how long time I have to wait?!
This question changes my mind very quickly! I would love to do Henro as soon as possible! I want to do Henro Pilgrimage long time enough~~
Hence, I booked the flight from Kaohsiung to Kansai airport on April 10 2015, went ahead and made my Henro day.
